California is the most populous state in the US, with an estimated population of about 39.5 million people. The late Tupac called it a place of people “who know how to party.”

On the other hand, Toronto is the largest city in the province of Ontario in Canada. Its metro area has an estimated population of about 6,255,000. The city has a lot to offer, ranging from rich cultural diversity, its sports teams, and competitive universities.

Where are you likely to enjoy casino gaming? Is it Toronto or California? We had a session with our gaming expert Conrad Brennan (check his profile here), who listed some popular casinos in both areas:

Online gambling in California and Toronto

Provinces in Canada regulate gambling while the states are authorized to regulate the same in the US. California is known for its strict gambling laws on both land-based and online casinos. Some forms of online gambling, such as online poker, are illegal in California.

On the other hand, online gambling is legal in Canada as long as you have an operating license. All the casinos that operate in Toronto are regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. You can get hundreds of sites offering online blackjack and they can either be locally based or offshore.

The biggest land-based casinos in Canada and Toronto

Pechanga Resort Casino, California

It is the biggest casino in the state of California as it covers 188,000 square feet. There are more than 158 games and over 5000 slot machines to choose from. The state-of-the-art bingo facility is one of its major features and has more than 700 seats. The same facility has a non-smoking poker room with 38 tables. The casino underwent a $285 million expansion, making it one of the biggest casinos in California.

The Woodbine Racetrack has a lot of entertainment options, and the casino is one of them. The Woodbine Entertainment covers 56,000 square feet and has over 1900 slot machines that you can try. There are various traditional gaming tables where you can play games such as poker, baccarat, and blackjack, to mention a few. Horse betting is also something you can try if you are a fan of live gaming.

Casino Woodbine, TorontoGreat Blue Heron Charity Casino, Toronto

This casino is close to Toronto and has been operational for more than two decades. There are 60 table games and 545 slot machines within the facility. Canadians love to play various classic games such as baccarat, three-card poker, and blackjack in this casino. You can join the Rapid Rewards Player Club and accumulate points as you play within this establishment. You can redeem your points for delicacies within this hotel or even for cash.

Cache Creek Casino Resort, California

It is among the leading casinos in the northern part of the state of California. The casino is situated at the Capay Valley just outside Sacramento and San Francisco. There are more than 100 table games and 2000 slot machines to choose from when you visit this casino.

San Manuel Casino, California

This casino is a one-hour drive from Los Angeles. Thunder Valley has been a favorite spot for gamblers since it was launched in 1986. The casino has more than 4,900 slot machines and the highest number of Konami machines in the world. The casino currently occupies 750,000 square feet but is expected to undergo an expansion.

Caesars Windsor Hotel & CasinoCaesars Windsor Hotel & Casino

This casino was opened in 1998 and serves gamblers from both Canada and the US. There are slots, six multi-link poker games, a SPA, on-site shopping, and a pool. The Poker Room has 14 tables, while the main floor has an assortment of gaming tables and electronic slots. These machines are designed in a way that you can order a drink and quench your thirst while the wheels are spinning.

It is quite evident that both California and Toronto have a lot to offer. However, we must consider several factors, such as the type of casino you are targeting, to determine which area suits you best. California can be the best fit if you are looking for an expansive region. On the other hand, Toronto is perfect for online gambling.
