A radically different fitness franchise with community-focused gyms that have transformed thousands of lives across the United States, The Camp Transformation Center is taking steps this September to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
Members from more than 80 Camp locations across the country will lace up their sneakers to participate in upcoming St. Jude Run/Walk events throughout California on Saturday, September 24.
With over 75 in-person St. Jude Walk/Run events taking place across 50 markets this September in commemoration of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, communities nationwide will raise awareness of and accelerate progress toward curing pediatric cancer, the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 14.
Since its founding in 1962, St. Jude has been at the forefront of progress and helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%.
On top of the funds raised by the franchise locations and over 100 teams made up of committed Camp employees participating in the walk/run, Camp will donate $25,000 as a regional sponsor.
Because of generous donations like these, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food – so they can focus on helping their child live.
“As a mother, I can’t even imagine how difficult it is to have your child diagnosed with cancer. The fact that there is a place like St. Jude, where these children receive care at no cost to the families is a blessing,” says Alejandra Font, Co-Founder of The Camp Transformation Center. “The Camp is proud to partner with St. Jude to help raise money and awareness for this lifesaving cause. It has been heartwarming to see the response from our members coast to coast.”
California-based Camp members can join trainers on September 24 in a pre-race warmup session beginning at 8:30 a.m. PDT for approximately 10 minutes prior to the event in the following locations:
- Griffith Park in Los Angeles, located at 4730 Crystal Springs Drive
- Liberty Station NTC Park in San Diego, located at 2455 Crushing Road
- Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco, located at 298 Market Street
