Medicinal Marijuana Files: How to make a homemade bong using a glass and plastic bottle

Our step-by-step instruction guide

First, you’ll need to choose a glass bottle. You can use anyone you want, but we recommend using a clear or green bottle, so you can see the smoke as it fills up the bong. Once you’ve chosen your bottle, drill a small hole in the bottom. This is where the bowl will go, so make sure it’s big enough to fit your tobacco or herb. Next, take a piece of metal tubing and insert it into the hole you just drilled. Ensure the tubing is long enough to reach the top of the bottle.

Now it’s time to make the bowl for your bong.

Take a piece of aluminum foil and shape it into a small bowl. Place this bowl over the end of the tubing, and then use a thumbtack or pushpin to poke small holes all over the foil. These holes will allow the smoke to pass through when you’re using the bong.

Next, fill the bottle with water, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Then insert the bowl into the hole at the bottom of the bottle, and light your tobacco or herb. Draw slowly on the mouthpiece of the bottle, and enjoy your homemade bong. When you’re finished, simply empty out the water and wash everything off with soap and water.

You can also make a bong out of a plastic bottle. This is already a well-known classic. But how do you make a bong out of a plastic bottle? Items needed: wallpaper cutter/ordinary knife, plastic bottle (at least two liters) – preferably hard, like a Coke bottle, for example, and a pipe.

Preparing the bong

Use the knife to make a hole about 1/4 the height of the bottle, ideally, the hole should be smaller in diameter than the diameter of the barrel you will put in it. The hole should be cut from the top downwards, but don’t make a circle. This will give you a better seal and make it easier to insert a larger diameter barrel because the plastic will adapt to the barrel diameter. Place the barrel in the hole. Pour water into the bottle. Insert your tobacco or herb into the barrel and fire it up. Engage through the “thread”.

The pineapple bong is another cool idea not only for home use but it can also be a neat party trick. For the pineapple bong, you will need a pineapple, a sharp knife, an optional pineapple cutter, and a cigarette holder – this works perfectly, toothpicks.

Cut off the top part of the pineapple so that it forms a larger-sized “cup”. Do not get rid of the top part. Now scoop out the inside of the pineapple, a special tool has been designed for this, but you can do it with a spoon.

Once the pineapple is “empty”, make a hole no bigger in diameter than your pipe, it has to be tight! When you’ve made the hole, put the stem into it at an angle. Make a hole on the other side for the mouthpiece. You can use the other, shorter stem as a mouthpiece, as long as it doesn’t touch the water. Pour in water or juice, whatever you like. Leftover pineapple juice will add a great deal of flavor. Close the pineapple with the cut-off part and use toothpicks to attach it back on.
