You want the mood-enhancing effects of CBD… but with the euphoria and high of THC. You might be looking for Delta-8 THC.
Delta-8 (D8) is sometimes called “weed light” and “diet THC” by some. Others refer to it as a “middle ground” between CBD and THC. Many people are still unfamiliar with this cannabinoid. You’re here because you are!
We’re here to help you learn more about Delta-8 THC and how it differs from CBD. (Spoiler alert… it’s complicated.)
What is Delta-8? What does Delta-8 do?
First, Delta-8 THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a brand-new product. The research is still in its infancy, and most studies on Delta-8 THC have been done on animals, not humans. Despite this, we know that Delta-8 is just one of more than 100 cannabinoids in cannabis plants. Delta-9 THC, the primary active ingredient of marijuana that causes “high,” and CBD, known for its calming effects but no psychoactive effects, are two other noteworthy cannabinoids. Delta-8 THC is similar to Delta-9 because it can get you “high”. However, the effects of the “high”, while strong, are often milder and more subtle than those from other Delta-9 THC products. It is also known as “weed light” or “diet THC.”
The US Cannabis Council reported that Delta-8 had a “lower affinity” for the CB1 receptors in the brain. It was found to have less ability to get someone “high,” but it may still be as potent as Delta-9 in psychotropic potency.
Delta-8 THC is legal in Florida. However, products cannot be shipped outside of Florida.
Here’s the reason: The 2018 Farm Bill, which allows hemp to be grown with a Delta-9 THC concentration less than or equal to 0.3%, was passed in 2018. The bill does not mention Delta-8 THC, so it’s unclear how this will be legalized.
Important to note is that 36 states have legalized medical cannabis use. 18 states, including New York, Washington, Maine, and California, allow adult recreational use.
Comparisons & differences between D8 & CBD
Both CBD and D8 cannabinoids are found in cannabis plants. They have been known to produce “feel-good” or “feel-good” vibes. The way D8 can be consumed is very similar to CBD. There are tinctures, edibles, and smokable flowers.
The difference between CBD and D8 is that D8 has THC. This means it will get you “high”. Also, CBD research is still in its early stages, but there is more information than D8. As the demand for Delta-8 THC grows, this will hopefully change.

Visit ATLRx began with the intent to provide our friends and families with safe, natural, and effective alternatives to prescription medications. The lack of accessible CBD products led us to realize that clients needed thorough information and education. The lack of transparency wasn’t confined to being a local problem; it was across the industry.
