Why Is the Delta-8 Gummies High Inconsistent?

Although users of delta-8 gummies enjoy the pleasant high that’s about half as potent as delta-9, they’re becoming increasingly aware that the experience seems to vary from one edible to the next.

While you wouldn’t expect an identical sensation each time, there are instances when the high is completely different from the previous day. This is the case even when using gummies from the same container.

For some users, the mystery is extremely appealing. There is something compelling about not knowing whether the high will prove so potent that you don’t want to leave the sofa or weak enough for you to wonder if you consumed marijuana at all.

However, most users, when they buy 25mg delta-8 gummies, expect to get close to that amount each time. If you’ve ever wondered why the high provided by edibles such as delta-8 gummies are so inconsistent, this is the article for you. We outline three reasons why you’re not guaranteed to have a similar experience each time.

1 – Edibles Are Metabolized Differently from Other Products

Delta-8 gummies are a popular method of consuming one of the hottest cannabinoid products on the market. Yet, users are quickly discovering that there is quite a big difference between consuming D8 in edible form and vaping it, for instance.

When you vape delta-8, the vapor goes straight to your bloodstream through the lungs. It is a short journey that avoids the digestive system, ensuring that the high becomes noticeable quickly. The process of turning the vape liquid into vapor by applying heat decarboxylates the substance.

In contrast, the delta-8 in gummies is already decarboxylated. It is a process that can alter the substance’s chemical makeup. Once you consume a D8 gummy, it travels to the bloodstream via your stomach and goes through first-pass metabolism. This means the delta-8 passes through the liver.

When you vape delta-8, you get more of the cannabinoid in your blood than an edible, and it hits the bloodstream much faster. When you eat delta-8 gummies, there is a far greater variance of effect from one user to the next based on their biological composition.

2 – Not All Hemp Is Created Equal

Delta-8 is created using CBD extracted from hemp. Unfortunately, some delta-8 gummies manufacturers don’t use high-quality hemp from the United States or the EU. Instead, they save money by opting for low-grade plant matter.

The extraction method is also relevant. Typically, supercritical CO2 extraction is the option selected by reputable brands. However, poor-quality delta-8 begins with a relatively ineffective extraction method. Realistically, it is all downhill from there.

Then there is the small matter of the chemical process used to convert CBD into delta-8. There is a huge difference in quality, which is seen in the standard of delta-8 gummies produced.

3 – The Science of Edibles Is Lagging Behind

Much of the research into marijuana’s effects relate to flower. The rise of THC edibles is recent, which means there is limited research into their effects and benefits. There is hardly any research into delta-8 gummies because they have only entered the marketplace in the last couple of years.

Ultimately, we’re still relying on anecdotal evidence regarding the effects of marijuana edibles due to the lack of scientific data. It is challenging to determine how much delta-8 is in a product since testing methods vary from one laboratory to the extract.

Marijuana’s legal status continues to hinder research. The plant remains a federally illegal substance in the United States and is also prohibited in most of the world. Although delta-8 is now legal, several states have banned it. Therefore, scientists will continue to find it hard to get funding for studies.

Final Thoughts on Why Delta-8 Gummies Can Affect You Differently from One Day to the Next

The marijuana industry as a whole continues to face challenges with the inconsistent effects provided by edibles among them. When you buy delta-8 gummies, you can typically expect a mild high that helps you relax and improves your mood. However, you can’t precisely predict how you’ll feel when you consume one.

Factors such as your biological, testing methods, extraction techniques, and how delta-8 is metabolized in the body play a role in the effects of delta-8 gummies. When buying this product, please ensure you only purchase it from a reputable brand that offers third-party lab reports with every batch.
