When Janae Bell was working on featured films in the costume and wardrobe department, the demands were relentless, there were health and safety concerns, and she suffered from abuse of working unsafe hours or days without breaks that the film industry engages in.

Finally, despite her significant salary, she decided to leave her job and pave a path to better health and a sound mind.

Today, as the founder of Goddess and the Moon, Ms. Bell has emerged as a leading moon circle, yoga, and meditation teacher. Her forte is guiding individuals to “ultimate” peace, harmony, and tranquility through workshops and individual practices.

Hosting therapeutic classes, moon circles, meditation, and various yoga flows “provides me with an outlet of peace and ease that I realized I could offer to others looking to do the same in influencing healthier, less stressful lives,” she says in her sweet and eloquent manner.

True, there are many ways for individuals to experience a renaissance these days, but there is something magical about the presence and aura of Ms. Bell.

She now has a bolstering community where she partners with facilities and venues throughout Atlanta to host workshops – virtually and in-person — that help others “better themselves and their mental space.”

Ms. Bell’s expertise is in these important issues in her profession:

  • What it’s like branching out on your own to pursue your real passions, and tips for others looking to do the same.
  • How moon circles are the new craze sweeping the nation, and what one can get out of the experience.
  • Tips to center yourself during meditation, whether you’re a beginner or an expert.
  • How yoga is the answer to transformation for your mind, body, and soul.

“My expertise is in restoring soul connection by combining Soul Work with the Moon, and energy healing workshops hosted virtually,” she says. “My teachings empower individuals to become aware of who they really are. We are so much more than humans — we are soul beings, living our lives through this human experience and when you become aware of who you are, you have all the answers you need. My mission helps beautiful souls heal, to become who you were meant to be, to uncover your greatness, to build new solid boundaries, and to find your core purpose that ignites your soul.

Every day, Ms. Bell strives to be “a mirror” so individuals can see who they truly are in all their infinite potential, in total expansion, and in infinite opportunity and power.

The Universe has always intrigued Ms. Bell. As a child, she had a vivid imagination. “I was fascinated by fairytales, mysticism, and folklore, so I would always find mythology books at school, reading about gods and goddesses and Hercules,” she says with a laugh.

However, after experiencing difficult times as a young woman, she was unable to focus on her imagination and “those memories became deeply buried in my subconscious,” she says.

The divorce of her parents, her struggles with self-image in high school, and the senseless relationships with boys broke her heart and “I lost myself,” she says. “In order to wake up, my entire life had to come crashing down, as I was so far removed from my soul as a result of self-hatred and deep society programming and conditioning.”

During her 60-80 work week in the film industry, she neglected her health and spiritual well-being, and found herself spiraling downhill again.

“There are no easy days in the film industry, there are no days off until you are off a production, and the money is so addicting that you may sacrifice your relationships, health, and well-being in order to make it,” she says.

“I knew deep down that film wasn’t my passion, so I decided I didn’t want to live this way anymore. Although I tried so hard to fit into the mold, trying to convince myself that I should remain to become a chief costume designer, I began having a spiritual awakening and I felt my inner self calling me to live a more balanced life.”

Ms. Bell is a certified 200-hour yoga instructor and meditation teacher through My Vinyasa Practice Teacher Training, as well as a moon guide.

“It is the powerful impact and ability to manifest that makes me so passionate about working with the moon,” she concludes.
