Fusing Femininity and Masculinity to Thrive in Business and Life

As a young girl growing up in Lithuania, Rasa DiSalvo knew by the age of nine that she wanted to live near the beach in the United States. Today, as she glances out from her Manhattan Beach, California home office, well, no need to guess what she sees.

Getting from there – wherever “there” is – to here is rarely a straight line. DiSalvo discovered that by connecting what she calls feminine and masculine energies, a person can unlock limiting beliefs and build strategies for a thriving career and life.

Traditionally masculine and feminine is associated with gender, but that is not how DiSalvo defines it. Each of us is born with both feminine and masculine, but many of us tend to favor one of the two. If you really want to achieve next level success, leveraging both your feminine and masculine energies is the fastest path to get there.

Through her studies of human potential, psychology, high performance, neuroscience, quantum physics, and spirituality, DiSalvo discovered that the visionary leaders and highest performers utilize and balance the strengths of both feminine and masculine energies:

• The Masculine Energy – leveraging strategy, plans, money, results, productivity.

• The Feminine Energy – leveraging growth mindset, intuitive guidance, emotions, imagination (ability to vision), compassion, money mindset, mindfulness, connection, and alignment to what is “bigger than me.”

“People come to me wanting to start or scale a business,” she told California Business Journal. “But they are stuck in limiting beliefs based on past conditioning about what is possible and what is not possible for them.”

DiSalvo’s work starts with mindset, intuitive guidance, and visioning (feminine energy) and builds plans and strategies (masculine energy) to reach goals. How did a kid from Lithuania find her way down this path? This was when Lithuania was still part of the Soviet Union. How could such a childhood dream possibly come true?

“At age 12, I started entering my family in the green card lottery every year,” she says. “In retrospect, I’m so glad we never hit the green card lottery because the path I found was so much better.”

As a teen, she excelled at volleyball and emerged as one of the top players in Lithuania. “One day, my coach told us that a coach from the United States was looking for players. I instantly ran to an internet cafe after practice and emailed that coach that I was ready.” This led to a volleyball scholarship at the University of Illinois. With a one-way plane ticket and school paid for, she soared to the U.S. with two duffel bags and $100 that represented all the money her parents could give her.

In her coaching practice, DiSalvo takes clients on this kind of “inspired action” — steps that lead to conquering goals. In her case, “inspired action” led she and her husband to California. She had studied finance at the University of Illinois, and her day job was with a consulting and accounting firm in Chicago. But on the weekends, she was playing on a professional beach volleyball tour, which brought her to California.

“My first time visiting Los Angeles, I went ‘Wow!’ The rolling hills. The palms. The sublime landscapes. The ocean that I dreamed of a child. I gazed up at the sun, felt the warmth on my face and just knew that is where I belong.”

Soon enough DiSalvo took an “inspired action” and found a way to transfer within her company to Los Angeles and this childhood dream finally came true.

DiSalvo has unwavering conviction that anything is possible if you have a burning desire and are willing to take inspired action to reach your goals. Strategies to help clients include retraining habitual thinking, and what she refers to as energetic alignment.

“Surround yourself with people who inspire you and whose eyes light up when they see you. “You are a reflection of the people you spend time with – choose wisely.” — Rasa DeSalvo

To that end, DiSalvo leads several Masterminds every year, along with one-on-one coaching. She runs 30-day High Performance Habit Challenges and offers her clients a complimentary Money Mindset Meditation to reprogram their limiting money beliefs. She recently worked with a client who, at that point, had become an ex-Hollywood personality.

“He wanted me to help him with what he was calling ‘this executive thing.’ “When he talked about it, there was no spark, no passion.” But when they talked about storytelling and getting back on TV, he lit up. DiSalvo quickly realized that however discouraged he had become, this should be the focus of their work together.

She helped him develop habits that would tap into his intuitive and emotional energy. This involved retraining in mindset and creating a powerful vision. “He did everything I asked him to and stepped with full velocity into all of it. The dreaming, the visualizing, the feeling of gratitude, how he would feel when this vision comes to life. By the end of the three months of working together, he had not one but three opportunities in television to choose from.”

One of the biggest reframing challenges so many of her clients experience — no matter what level of success they have already achieved — is money. “I work with a lot of professionals or company founders,” DiSalvo says. “They come with strategic or fundraising challenges they are trying to solve, but I often find that beneath there is a limiting money belief that is keeping them stuck.” She uses the analogy of a thermostat for the money mindset — when a thermostat reaches a certain set point, it just shuts off.

“In the same way, money mindset is subconsciously keeping us at a certain level, unless it is consciously reset.” DiSalvo says. Yet she sees over and over the regret people have about missed opportunities where a different money mindset would have made the difference. She helps resolve limiting beliefs individuals have from their personal finance right up to the next round of funding for their business.

“To achieve extraordinary results, you need an extraordinary mindset and an extraordinary strategy, with mindset being 80% of that equation.”

That’s way DiSalvo is “all about alignment. When feminine and masculine energies come into alignment,” she concludes, “what was thought to be impossible becomes not only possible, but inevitable.”
