• Doctors may recommend a Tonsillectomy in extreme situations. Tonsils are removed during surgery to prevent stones from growing again.

There are several home cures to choose from in addition to these traditional ones. Maintaining adequate dental hygiene can help to prevent the formation of stones. A cotton swab can also be used to gently remove tonsil stones. Gargling with salt water on a daily basis can also help. When it comes to tonsil stones, apple cider vinegar diluted in water, works miracles. A patient with tonsil stones should stay hydrated since a dry mouth creates ideal circumstances for the formation of stones.
