We all have taken a selfie at some point in our lives, in fact, most of us have at least taken and uploaded one this week. However, how much do we know about selfie culture? And is there even such a thing as selfie culture to begin with? Well, that’s precisely what the Selfie Museum is here to answer.

Believe it or not, the selfie world is both older and more interesting than it might appear at first glance, and there’s a lot of interesting trivia and facts to explore. However the best part about the Selfie Museum is that it’s more than just about facts and knowledge, it’s also an interactive selfie studio near me. So if you have any passion at all for the world of selfies, believe us when we say you’ll want to keep on reading.

The history of selfies?

When it comes to selfies too many people are quick to dismiss them as just a simple gimmick or fad, but the history is as rich and interesting as the history of photography itself. Heck, it’s as old as photography itself.

Try to picture when the first selfie was taken. Maybe it was the early 2000s? Perhaps if you are bold enough you might say the 80s? But did you know that the very first selfie was taken in 1839 by Robert Cornelius? That’s almost 200 years ago, and if that wasn’t crazy enough to think about, want to know when photography started? That very same year, 1839.

So selfies have existed since the invention of photography, and that means there’s a lot to cover when it comes to selfie culture over the world. From its major push in Japan during the 90s to the invention of the term itself in Australia there’s a lot to uncover and share with the world when it comes to selfies, and that’s part of what makes the Selfie Museum so much fun.

Celebrate selfies, by taking selfies

Selfies are all about self-expression and being an active participant in your environment and locales, which is why the best way to celebrate selfie culture at the Selfie Museum is to start taking some selfies on your own.

The museum counts on multiple interactive experiences that not only reflect selfie culture but result in great photos to share online. Instagram Frames, Emoji Pools, and modern renditions of classical art are everywhere in the museum, and they all have one thing in common: They are 100% interactive.

If you see something in the museum you can take a photo with it. And since the exhibits are so visually appealing the photos come out great. Just a quick view of the museum’s website shows some amazing selfies their visitors have taken and any enthusiast will have their interest spiked and motivation boosted by all the attractions the museum has to offer.

And if you are looking for even more visually stimulating locations to up your selfie game, why not take a look at the Museum of Illusions while you are at it too? With some of the most interesting visual illusions and mirages in the entirety of Las Vegas, we can assure you it’s a prime location to take some selfies.
