If you’re just getting started in the cannabis world, you’ve undoubtedly already discovered a plethora of ways to experience this fascinating herb. It might be challenging to know where to begin when researching cannabis due to the wide variety of options available, including flowers, edibles, and concentrations or extracts.

Concentrates and extracts have been increasingly popular recently among those who use cannabis for recreational and medical purposes. These concentrates go by many names, but you’ve probably heard of dabs, hash, kief, oil, or shatter. Like other facets of marijuana, cannabis concentrates and extracts come in a wide variety.
You’re on the right page if you want to learn more about cannabis concentrates and extracts but don’t know where to begin. Continue reading as this article explains the different types of marijuana concentrates and extracts, their variations, and how to consume them.

What Are The Differences Of Cannabis Concentrates To Cannabis Extracts

Researchers and experts say that a concentration is more potent because water or other substances have been removed. Undoubtedly, cannabis concentrates are significantly more potent than the plant itself.

Cannabis concentrates are an all-encompassing phrase for marijuana-derived extracts. But not all cannabis concentrates may be deemed extracts. The trichomes of a marijuana plant are extracted mechanically to create a concentrate packed with cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. Marijuana extracts, on the other hand, include the additional step of employing a solvent to remove the trichomes from the plant matter.

Different Types Of Cannabis Concentrates And Extracts

Cannabis users have produced a wide range of concentrates over the years, which can be utilized by medical patients wanting a more precisely measured dose and recreational users seeking unique and potent ways to enjoy their favorite herb.

Due to the numerous choices, a well-maintained and organized online vendor like stiiizy.com can help you choose your next extract, concentrate, or flower. However, it would be best if you take some time and learn more about some of the most popular forms of cannabis extract and concentrates, how they’re produced, and how they’re used before purchasing.

  • Live Resin

Many people regard live resin, a type of butane hash oil (BHO), as the premium cannabis concentrate. It is popular because it faithfully retains the terpenes and flavor profile of the cannabis strain used to produce it.

Live resin is produced when companies skip the curing process and quickly freeze cannabis plants after harvest, which is done with the plant material used for most BHO products. The final product is a marijuana extract that is aromatic and tasty, with a high concentration of cannabinoids and a rich terpene profile.

This concentrate is used with a vaporizer or dab rig. Live resin is one of the most expensive cannabis extracts because of the extra attention that must be given during the preparation.

  • Butane Hash Oil

Butane hash oil, often known as BHO or butane honey oil, is a catchall word for various cannabis concentrates such as wax, sap, crumble, shatter, and others. It is possible to extract THC from marijuana using butane, and the resulting BHO is a popular form of this extract.

When cannabis is removed, the final compound includes only the active ingredients—the cannabinoids and terpenes—responsible for the drug’s psychoactive and aromatic properties. BHO is best consumed by dabbing on a dab rig or a cannabis concentrate vaporizer.

A dab rig is equipped with a nail, piece of metal, or glass heated to high temperatures to vaporize the concentrate. Some setups require the user to hold a torch, while others use ‘e-nails’ that can be heated by simply plugging in.

Moreover, you can also use a vape pen or other specialized vaporizer designed for dabbing. However, no old vaporizer will do; you’ll need one built to handle concentrated cannabis. A greasy mess and possible vaporizer damage await those who recklessly use incompatible vaporizers.

  • Kief Or Hashish

Kief is a byproduct of grinding marijuana flowers and can be collected from the bottom of a four-part herb grinder. You can use sharpstone usa grinders for hassle free process. There are also direct methods of collecting it. When a dried herb is ground on silk screens, the pollen is released and can be collected in a bowl or tray below.

The gathered kief can be compressed into hashish, sticky discs, or balls of concentrated marijuana pollen. Wrap the blossoms in filter bags and chill them in ice water for an additional option. Bubble hash is prepared by freezing the plant material and breaking off the trichomes.

No specific tools are required to smoke kief or compressed hashish. Hash and kief are sometimes used as additives in marijuana and tobacco cigarettes. They can be smoked in a pipe or a water pipe as well. Kief can be used to make foods laced with marijuana.

However, decarboxylation of the kief is necessary to activate the cannabinoids and experience their benefits. To do this, heat it up; many people just spread it out on a baking sheet or dish and pop it into an oven preheated to 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. It is possible to consume kief after decarboxylation by adding it to beverages or foods.

Takeaway

If you’re interested in trying concentrates, you could want to start with kief or at least educate yourself very well on the other concentrates. Be sure you know what you’re getting into by checking the THC content of the product. Some of the top brands have high THC concentrations, and it may not be recommended for beginners.
