5 Ways to Maximize Your Workouts

There is no point spending hours in the gym if you don’t seem to be getting fitter or more toned. However, you don’t necessarily need to spend that much time on your workouts if you learn how to maximize the time you have. You can then make the changes to your body that you are looking for without having to give up all the other things you enjoy doing. Here are 5 ways to maximize your workouts.

Have A Game Plan

Without a clearly defined game plan, you are just going to wander from machine to machine getting nowhere fast. Think about what you want to achieve from your gym visits over the next 1-6 months and ask a member of the gym staff to write you a workout program that will help you achieve it. Update this every few weeks when the routine starts to feel a little too easy and you will be able to maximize workouts and achieve the results you are looking for.

Minimize Rest During Workouts

How do you spend your time at the gym? Do you move from machine to machine quickly without pausing for a break or do you spend a lot of time chatting with your friends at the water cooler? How you spend time at the gym will make a difference in the intensity of your workout. Hanging out with your friends is fine if that is what you go to the gym for but if you want to see results then it’s going to take some hard work. Be honest with yourself about how you use your workout time and whether you could change your tactics slightly to make the most of the time you have.

Pay Attention to Your Food Intake

There is no point in spending hours in the gym and then rewarding yourself with a large pizza on the way home. That will just undo all your hard work and you may as well have stayed home in the first place. However, you shouldn’t make the mistake of eating too little as this can make you feel faint and your body won’t be able to function as it needs to. Don’t skip breakfast to go to the gym as this will hinder your workout performance. Instead aim to eat a light breakfast such as fruit or whole-grain cereal before you go to the gym to give you some energy. After your workout, you should help your muscles to recover with a high-protein meal. If it is a while until your next meal then snacks such as fresh fruit and energy bars are ideal.

Consider Supplements

Supplements can be a fantastic way of helping you to make the most of your workout. For example, natural testosterone supplements can help you to improve your strength, and this well researched review can explain more about these supplements. Other supplements will help to speed up your recovery time or give you more natural energy. Depending on what you want to achieve, you should be able to find a supplement that will help you to maximize your workouts without having to spend hours in the gym every day.

Build In Recovery Time

Training seven days per week is a sure-fire way to kill your motivation and leave you with injuries that will take time to recover from. Recovery time gives your muscles and joints time to repair themselves and get ready to work harder next time. Aim to every other day rather than every day and you will see better results and stay motivated and ask a member of the gym staff or SohoFit personal trainers to write you a workout program that will help you achieve it.

You can get more from your workouts without having to spend more time at the gym if you follow these five simple tips.
