How are AI-Based Technologies Changing Modern Industries

AI is changing everything and we must be prepared to adapt. The businesses and industries that don’t act on time risk losing their competitive advantage, and it may be difficult to recover considering the fast pace of technology.

Many people fear that Artificial Intelligence will mean the doom of the world as we know it. Smart robots will come and take over our jobs, solve all our current major issues, and make humankind obsolete. While this is a bit of a scenario, it is also quite the reality we are experiencing at the very moment. Most modern technologies use AI for increased efficiency and productivity and many industries use smart robots to improve productivity and reduce costs. In addition, the world as we know it changes right under our eyes. And we change with it! Setting aside the fact that over 50% of the world population carries at least one AI-enabled device (modern smartphones) AI-based technologies are currently re-shaping the business industrial landscape.

Logistics & Warehousing

The good transportation business never stops. At every given moment of the day, there are trucks, ships, trains, and planes moving towards their destination, following a strict schedule, in order to deliver and supply our current lifestyle. Any delay in transportation can create a chain reaction that may affect several different industries. The direct result is measured in financial losses, delayed projects, and unsatisfied customers. To avoid such a negative situation, fleet owners and managers use AI-powered tools that can gather and process real-time data and provide valuable insight that helps reduce the of unwanted events. For instance, logistic companies use AI dash cameras, which can assist the driver in keeping their focus and avoiding any risky situations. In addition, a smart dash cam can also monitor people’s behavior and report their assessment to the manager. This way, fleet managers can easily identify reckless drivers and take all the necessary measures to avoid problems. Moreover, there are other smart devices and sensors that accompany a shipment. Together, these create an intelligent network that keeps everyone informed on the progress and condition of the transport.

Automation is not a new trend in factories and production facilities all over the world. However, the robots involved in various segments are getting smarter and easier to control. In addition, with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, robots can use real-time data and other resources to learn and improve. As a result, we will start to see more fully-automated factories with fewer human workers. In addition, the cost of production is lowering as the of production is increasing and the materials are improving. While it can be scary to think about the fact that many people will be losing their jobs, it is also a good thing. By using robots, factories reduce the number of work accidents and reduce exposure to harmful elements. In addition, automation also opens the door to professional reconversion in a field similar to a person’s area of expertise.

Agriculture

Automation is also bringing improvements in agriculture by providing farmers with the right tools to collect and process data directly from the fields. For instance, many businesses use drones for surveillance and  other purposes. The data is then processed and used to identify patterns in order to understand how the soil, weather, and various other elements influence the crops. In addition, there are now robots that can monitor the crops from the ground and identify diseases or pest infestations before they make any real damage.

Wrap Up

In summary, it’s safe to say that AI is changing everything and we must be prepared to adapt. The businesses and industries that don’t act on time risk losing their competitive advantage, and it may be difficult to recover considering the fast pace of technology. AI and smart robots are already here and they can make the world better – it’s up to each and every one of to deal with the reality and accept the change.
