Florida Files: 4 Types of Accidents You Might Be Able To Claim

We may live in a time of dramatically increased security compared to a few hundred years ago, but the world can still be a dangerous place.

Accidents occur in all shapes and sizes every single day. Still, it can be confusing regarding what you can and can’t claim with your insurance provider. Here are four of the most common forms of accidents and what you should do if they occur.

1. Car Accidents

There are an estimated 200,000 injuries each year in Florida because of car accidents.  If you are thinking of starting your own business, you might want to start by opening a Florida LLC. A substantial number of these aren’t the fault of any individual person, and the state’s ‘no-fault law’ often means that fault can be apportioned to all involved under certain circumstances.

But that’s not to say that there aren’t many accidents caused by negligence, whether that’s down to the driver, passenger, or even a pedestrian. If you’ve been in a car accident, contact Brian Guralnick, a Boynton Beach Personal Injury Lawyer for a case assessment.

2. Bicycle Accidents

Don’t assume that, because of the relatively slow speeds compared to automobiles, you can’t claim when you’re involved in a bicycle accident.

Florida remains the most dangerous place in America for bicyclists and pedestrians. Between 2014-2021, 600 bike fatalities occurred on Florida’s streets. Cycling has become incredibly popular over the last couple of decades, with more and more people heading out on their bikes, but the risk remains high. Even if you are involved in a minor accident while cycling, you might be entitled to compensation.

3. Boat Accidents

With 1,350 miles worth of coastline around Florida, it’s probably not a great surprise to hear that boating accidents are common. In 2020, the state saw 836 boating accidents along with 79 deaths. Sadly, many were down to human negligence, ranging from DUIs, inadequate maintenance, ignoring wake warnings, horseplay, and dock injuries.

Cruise ships are also common places to see accidents, ranging from slips and falls to food poisoning. The water may be part of Floridian life, but it also brings its fair share of danger.

4. Slips and Falls

The most common forms of accident claims are slip-and-fall accidents, where a premise has not adequately carried out its safety procedures.

These can at first appear relatively minor, but a slightly twisted ankle that keeps you out of work for a couple of weeks is not an injury you should take lightly. Injuries resulting from a slip or a fall can have a habit of lingering.
If you believe it was because of a company or individual acting negligently, you should certainly think about making a claim.
