Educator, Researcher, and Neuropsychologist Karen Murillo Has Been Formally Recognized as HighSchope Mexico’s Associate for Pivotal COVID-19 Support

Educator Karen Murillo has spent her career transforming education, creating an environment where children can truly reach their full potential—and people are taking notice.

She has taken learning to the next level in tandem with the HighScope Educational Research Foundation, paving the way to a more beneficial future that our youth can take advantage of.

Murillo has shown an extraordinary aptitude in research and education in international settings. Her accomplishments have had an immensely positive influence on those who’ve had the privilege to learn from her. Not to mention, the research she’s conducted is sending a pulse through the realm of education, setting children up for the success they should be able to achieve.

“I mold young minds in a way that instills self-confidence requires a high-quality caliber of care that I have effectively – and fortunately – honed,” she says.

This ability has been recognized in many forms. Her work has been published as a resource for schools and teachers in the Spanish Interactive Read Alouds program and in an eBook for families that helped them navigate online learning during the pandemic.

Additionally, she co-founded a private school in Mexico City to foster the education of those in early childhood to middle school age, implementing an active learning approach that’s rendered unignorable results.

Murillo developed the curriculum, created learning environments that support children’s ability to learn, and specialized training and professional development programs for adults throughout her illustrious career.

She’s also the researcher for the i3 grant project at HighScope Educational Research Foundation.

Next up for Murillo is writing a book about parenting and education. “I’m motivated by transforming families and children gradually, enabling them to become the best versions of themselves.”

Murillo has developed a comprehensive understanding of children through her life that have given her insight on how to help children who ‘don’t like school.’ With a Master’s degree in neuropsychology and education, she has learned how the brain develops from a young age, enabling her to develop education programs that foster growth.

“I focus on creating programs that adapt to the needs of each unique child instead of trying to force children into the mold of a strictly set approach—as is, unfortunately, the norm nowadays,” she says.
