Making the Garden Look Bigger When Selling Your House

With many people now prioritizing a good garden when it comes to finding a new home, the need to make gardening part of your home-seller strategy has never been so important.

In a post-pandemic world, working from home and having more time to spend in your own garden has seen a huge soar in popularity. But with limited garden space available in many homes these days, how are you going to add more appeal to an outdoor space when potential buyers come and visit your home?

Here are some top tips to make your garden look bigger when it’s time to sell your house.

A minimalist style offers big possibilities.

To fully showcase the space and overall potential of a garden to a buyer, you’ll need to remove all of the unnecessary clutter first. This includes scaling back on the number of plants you have, considering a few simple but inviting colors to stick to, and trimming back overgrown greenery.

Maintaining and scaling back the greenery, pulling out those tired and dead weeds, and accentuating a few clear and bold lines around the plants you do keep gives the entire garden room to breathe and helps to highlight all of the possibilities it can give to a buyer.

Think vertically as well as horizontally

It’s easy to forget that adding some vertical attractions to your garden can really make a difference. Seek out thin but tall climbing plants that give the space the feel of height and unlimited possibilities.

For a little more depth, finding a needlepoint holly online can add lush green leaves to your garden composition without taking over the space. These plants help to add character and height to your garden without blocking out too much sunlight.

Divide it up into areas

A well-placed trellis or free-standing wall can create the notion of the garden being far more spacious than it actually is. However, it’s important to use these sparingly to ensure that you don’t make your minimalist style seem misguided and cluttered.

By implementing some division in three or four places, you’ll help to create areas of the garden that offer a wide range of possibilities to a viewer. If you’re looking to be bold, adding a mirror can exemplify the space even more and make it look far larger.

Avoid large water features that steal the limelight

While a stunning water feature can bring a garden together by offering a centerpiece to focus on, they tend to take up a great deal of space as well. If you’re looking to sell the space of your garden, this will only serve to hog a lot of the available room.

Don’t forget that you’re showcasing the possibilities of a spacious garden. Potential buyers love to think of how they’d change or renovate the gardens they see. What matters most is accentuating how much room is available to play with and offering them an enticing canvas to make their style.
